A series of clear, removable trays, each one made from a scan of your teeth. Every tray sits slightly ahead of where your teeth are now, so wearing it applies gentle pressure and the teeth move to catch up. You change to the next tray roughly every one to two weeks, and the sequence walks your teeth to the planned position.
They come out for meals, for brushing, and for the odd photograph. Nobody at work will notice you are wearing them. That is the whole appeal, and it is a genuine one.

Two Things Nobody Mentions Until You Are in the Chair
Attachments. Most cases need small tooth-coloured bumps bonded to a few teeth, giving the aligner something to grip so it can rotate or tip a tooth properly. They come off at the end, and they are far less visible than braces. They are also a surprise if nobody warned you, so we do.
Interproximal reduction. Where the teeth are crowded and there is nowhere for them to go, a fraction of a millimetre is polished from between them to make room. Painless, entirely routine, and better than removing a tooth. Our dentist will tell you at the planning stage whether your case needs it.

You see the movement mapped out, tooth by tooth, along with the finished result. This is where you say what you do and do not like.
Aligners made and fitted
Your first trays are fitted, attachments are placed if your plan needs them, and you are shown how to get the aligners in and out without a fight.
Progress checks
Every six to eight weeks, so far fewer visits than braces. We check the teeth are tracking to plan and adjust if they are not.
Refinements
Teeth are biological, not mechanical, and a few rarely land exactly where the software predicted. A short second run of trays finishes the job properly rather than settling for close enough.
Retainers
The last stage, and the one that protects everything you just paid for.
Retainers Are Not Optional
This is the single most important thing on this page. Teeth do not set in their new position. The fibres holding them have memory, and left alone they will pull the teeth back toward where they started. It happens slowly enough that people do not notice until the front teeth have crossed over again.
