Sleep Disorder Therapy

Sleep Disorder Therapy for Better Sleep and Daily Life

Restful sleep starts with the right support. Our specialists diagnose sleep problems and recommend the right treatment. Trusta Medical Center provides sleep disorder therapy that treats the actual cause, whether that is insomnia, a body clock that has drifted, or racing thoughts that arrive the moment the lights go off.

Our dedicated team focus to give proper assessment before treatment starts. The reason is that bad nights have several different causes, and each one needs a different answer. Sessions are short, structured, and usually finished within two months. Where sleeping tablets are already part of the picture, we rebuild your sleep first so medication can be reduced safely afterwards rather than abruptly. Nobody here will tell you to stop scrolling and hope for the best.

Ready to book your first session at our Downtown Dubai clinic and get a plan that holds.

Sleep Disorder Therapy

Which Sleep Problem Do You Actually Have?

Not all bad nights are the same. So sleep disorder therapy starts by working out which pattern you have, because each one needs a different fix.

  • You lie awake for hours. Your body is tired, but your mind will not switch off. This is sleep onset insomnia.
  • You wake at three and cannot get back. Sleep starts fine, then breaks in the second half of the night.
  • You sleep eight hours and still feel wrecked. Quantity is fine, quality is not. Breathing is often the culprit here.
  • You cannot sleep before two, then cannot wake up. Your body clock has shifted rather than broken.
  • Your legs will not settle. An urge to move that gets worse the longer you lie still.
  • You dread bedtime. The bedroom itself now triggers alertness, which is a learned response and very treatable.

Most patients recognise themselves in one or two of these. Bring that to your first appointment and you have already saved us a session.

Sleep Disorder Therapy

What You Get With Our Sleep Disorder Treatment?

  • You get treated, not just prescribed. Sleep disorder therapy comes first here, and medication only where it genuinely helps
  • You keep the results. Therapy holds after treatment ends. Tablets stop working the day you stop taking them
  • You finish. Most courses run six to eight sessions, not open-ended appointments that drift on for a year
  • You get help coming off sleeping tablets. Safely, on a plan, rather than going cold and dealing with the rebound alone
  • You will be told the truth. If your problem needs a sleep study rather than therapy, we say so instead of selling you sessions
  • Everything sits with one team. Psychiatrists and therapists work from the same file, in the same building
  • Nobody finds out. Confidential records, a discreet clinic, and nothing shared without your written consent

Sleep problems and mental health feed each other, so treating them separately means treating them twice. Having both handled under one roof saves patients months of going back and forth between clinics.

Why Sleeping Tablets Stop Working

Many people use sleeping tablets. They worked brilliantly for a fortnight, then less well, and now they barely touch it.

That is how these medications behave. Your body adjusts, so the same dose does less. Stopping then feels impossible, because the first few nights without them are usually worse than the insomnia was. That rebound is temporary, but it convinces people they cannot cope without the tablet.

We help patients out of that cycle properly. Therapy goes in first and builds the sleep back. Only then does your doctor taper the medication, slowly and on a plan. Never stop a prescribed sleep medication on your own, because the rebound can be rough and it is entirely avoidable with support.

CBT-I, and Why We Start There

Cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia sits at the centre of our sleep disorder therapy, and it is the first-line treatment worldwide. It outperforms sleeping tablets over the long run, and the results hold after therapy ends. Medication stops working the day you stop taking it.

Here is what it actually involves. None of it is complicated, though some of it is uncomfortable for the first fortnight.

Rebuilding your sleep drive

We temporarily shorten your time in bed to match the sleep you are genuinely getting. Sounds harsh. It works fast, because it rebuilds the pressure to sleep that eight hours of lying awake has destroyed. Then we extend it week by week.

Making the bed mean sleep again

If you have spent a year lying awake in bed, your brain now links that bed with being alert. So we break the association. Bed is for sleep only, and if you are awake for long, you get up.

Switching off the racing thoughts

Tomorrow’s to-do list arrives at eleven at night for a lot of our patients. We give you a place to put it earlier in the evening, plus practical techniques for the worry loop itself.

Resetting your body clock

Light timing, wake time, and routine do most of the work here. Your wake time matters far more than your bedtime, which surprises almost everyone.

When It Is Not Insomnia at All

Some sleep problems will not respond to sleep disorder therapy, and we will tell you so rather than sell you sessions. Loud snoring, gasping or choking at night, morning headaches, and heavy daytime sleepiness point towards sleep apnea. That needs a sleep study and medical treatment, not talking therapy. Restless legs, narcolepsy and some parasomnias also need a different route.

When we see those signs, we say so at the first appointment and point you to the right specialist. Therapy can still help alongside, but it is not the main treatment, and pretending otherwise wastes your money.

Why We Treat Sleep and Mood Together?

This is where being part of a psychiatry department genuinely helps. Anxiety wrecks sleep, and broken sleep makes anxiety worse. The same loop runs with low mood. Treat only the sleep and the problem often returns within months, so we look at both together. Where worry is driving the wakefulness, our anxiety treatment runs alongside your sleep work.

Burnout follows the same pattern. Long stretches of pressure at work change how you sleep before they change anything else, which is why our stress and depression management service often shares a treatment plan with this one.

What Life in Dubai Does to Your Sleep

Some of what we see here is specific to the city, and we treat it as part of the case.

  • Long hours and a work culture where messages arrive late into the evening
  • Frequent travel across time zones, so your body clock never fully settles
  • Shift patterns in healthcare, aviation, hospitality and construction
  • Social evenings that start at nine and finish long after midnight
  • Months of the year spent indoors, with very little morning daylight

That last one matters more than people expect. Morning light anchors your body clock, so an air-conditioned commute from parking garage to office removes the strongest signal your brain uses to set the timer.

What to Expect in First Appointment

Nothing dramatic happens. We just need the full picture before any sleep disorder therapy begins.

  • We map your nights. Bedtime, wake time, how long you lie awake, how often you surface.
  • We ask about your days. Energy, mood, concentration, and whether you are falling asleep at the wheel.
  • We check for the medical causes. Breathing, medication, caffeine, alcohol, shift work, pain.
  • We look at what you already tried. That tells us plenty, and it stops us from repeating what has already failed.
  • We agree on a plan. What we are treating, how, and roughly how long it should take.

You leave knowing what is wrong and what happens next. That alone helps some people sleep better the same week.

How Long Until You Sleep Better

Sessions run weekly at first. Most courses of sleep disorder therapy take six to eight appointments, which is shorter than most people expect.

Week one or two often feels harder, not easier. That is normal, and we warn you. Then it turns, usually somewhere around week three or four, and patients start reporting that they fell asleep without noticing. By week six, most people have a routine that holds on its own.

The Homework, and Why It Decides Everything

Every patient on sleep disorder therapy keeps a simple sleep diary. It takes two minutes each morning.

Memory is unreliable about sleep. Ask someone how they slept last week and they will describe the worst night. A diary shows the real pattern, and it shows progress that feels invisible from inside. It is also how we know whether to extend your time in bed or hold it steady.

Patients who keep the diary improve faster. We are upfront about that, because it is the one part of this you fully control.

Who Should Book an Appointment

Come and see us if any of this has been going on for a month or more:

  • Taking more than half an hour to fall asleep most nights
  • Waking repeatedly, or waking early and staying awake
  • Relying on tablets, alcohol or melatonin to get to sleep
  • Feeling exhausted all day despite a full night in bed
  • Dreading bedtime, or clock-watching through the night
  • Snoring loudly, or being told you stop breathing

You do not need a diagnosis before you call. Working that out is our job.

Fees and Insurance

Insomnia carries a formal diagnosis, so cover is more common than people assume. Many UAE plans include psychiatric consultations and a set number of therapy sessions each year, with a co-payment. Send your policy details to reception beforehand and you get a clear answer before your first visit rather than after it.

our expert answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a sleep study?
Only if we suspect a breathing or movement disorder. Most insomnia needs no test at all, and we will tell you which category you fall into at the first appointment.
Can I get off my sleeping tablets?
Usually yes, with a plan. Therapy goes in first, then your doctor tapers the medication gradually. Do not attempt it alone.
Is CBT-I actually better than medication?
Over the long term, yes. It is the recommended first-line treatment internationally, and the improvement holds after the sessions finish.
How many sessions of sleep disorder therapy will I need?
Six to eight for most patients. Some need fewer, and complicated cases take longer.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a wonderful experience at Trusta Medical Center. From the moment I arrived, the reception team was welcoming, professional, and very well organized. The entire clinic has a clean, elegant, and comfortable atmosphere, which immediately gives you a sense of confidence and trust. I was particularly impressed by their Aesthetic Medicine Department. The team takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns and expectations, and everything is explained clearly before making any decision. Their approach feels professional and patient-centered rather than commercial. The clinic also seems very selective in choosing its doctors. The medical team is experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on achieving natural and appropriate results while maintaining high standards of safety. Another positive point was the transparency regarding prices and treatment options. Everything was explained clearly, with no unnecessary pressure to undergo additional procedures. Overall, Trusta Medical Center is an excellent polyclinic that combines professional medical care, hospitality, cleanliness, fair pricing, and highly qualified doctors under one roof. I would confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable medical center in Dubai, especially for aesthetic medicine. A truly five-star experience. Highly recommended. ❤️
