What Happens During Your First concussion Appointment?
Your appointment runs about forty five minutes, and it is a full clinical workup rather than a quick look. We take the history of the injury, examine you neurologically, then test what a concussion actually affects: memory, concentration, balance, vision, coordination and inner ear function.
We do not send everyone for a scan. One gets arranged only when the examination gives us a reason. You go home the same day with the severity graded, a realistic recovery window and a plan for the next fortnight.
When Is Emergency Care Needed?
Most concussion symptoms are unpleasant rather than dangerous. A few need urgent attention. If any of these appear, go straight to an emergency department the same day instead of waiting for a clinic appointment:

What Can You Expect During Concussion Recovery?
No two concussions run the same course. Recovery still has a shape, and we walk you through it on day one so you and whoever is looking after you know what is coming.
Days 1 to 3
This is the worst of it. Rest, though not in a dark room, and keep screens short. No sport and no driving. We want to see you inside this window if we can, partly to start treatment and partly to rule out anything more serious.
Days 4 to 7
Movement comes back in small doses. A short walk. Normal jobs around the house. Headaches and dizziness usually start to loosen their grip. Most of our patients begin rehabilitation here rather than resting on. Two weeks flat on your back does not speed recovery up. It drags it out.
Weeks 2 to 4

How Long Does Concussions Treatment Take?
