Want to prepare before you start trying? Three months is roughly the window that gives you time to get the important checks and preparation done. Preconception care at Trusta Medical Center sorts out the checks and screening before you start trying, instead of finding something at eight weeks that needed attention at minus twelve. Fertility assessment, carrier screening, vaccination review, bloodwork. All of it in one programme at our Downtown Dubai clinic, with both partners seen where it helps. You walk out with a written plan and dates on it. Book your pre-pregnancy consultation today.
Women and couples across Downtown Dubai and the UAE trust our experienced gynecologists when they plan to start or grow their families. We provide clear guidance at every stage and help you prepare with confidence.
Three to six months ahead. That is the window. And it is not padding. Rubella and varicella vaccines need a clear month before you conceive. Folic acid wants three months to build up. Correcting low vitamin D or iron takes about the same. Swapping a medication that is unsafe in pregnancy needs longer again, because the replacement has to suit you before you rely on it.
Start earlier if you are over 35, manage a chronic condition, or have had a miscarriage. And it is never too late. A fair number of our patients book after six months of trying. That appointment is still worth having.
First visit is mostly talking. An examination, yes, but no battery of tests on day one.
Expect questions about your cycle. Previous pregnancies, surgeries, chronic conditions, what you take daily. Family history on both sides matters here, so bring whatever you know, even the vague bits. Diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol, caffeine. All of it affects conception more than people expect, and the caffeine question surprises everyone.
This is what decides which tests you actually need. A family history of thalassemia points one way. Two early miscarriages point somewhere else entirely.
Broad screening panels ordered without a history behind them mostly generate anxiety and invoices.
Your age, health and how long you plan to wait all shape the plan. You leave with milestones. Which tests happen when, when to start supplements, and roughly when you should be ready to try.
Bloodwork answers the questions a consultation cannot. Our preconception health screening covers physical readiness rather than fertility alone.
A standard panel includes complete blood count, thyroid function, blood glucose, blood group and reproductive hormones. Anything abnormal gets investigated or referred before conception rather than noted and ignored.
Worth singling out. Vitamin D deficiency is common right across the Gulf, and a large share of the women we test come back low. Air-conditioned offices, covered clothing, forty-five degree summers nobody goes outside in. It adds up.
It takes weeks of supplementation to correct properly, which is the reason to test now rather than in month two. Iron and B12 get checked alongside. Both run low often, and both change how you feel through the first trimester.
Rubella immunity, hepatitis B and C, HIV and syphilis, following DHA antenatal screening standards. A gap in rubella protection is the one that matters most here, because the vaccine has to be given before pregnancy and not during it.
Not every couple needs this. Where it is useful, it is far more useful early than after a year of trying.
An AMH blood test estimates ovarian reserve, and an ultrasound counts antral follicles to see how the ovaries are likely to respond. Neither test predicts whether you will conceive, and anyone presenting them that way is overstating what they do. What they give you is a sense of timing.
Male factors contribute to roughly half of conception difficulties, so testing one partner and not the other wastes months. A semen analysis checks count, movement and shape, and it forms part of a full fertility test for couples.
After twelve months of trying if you are under 35. After six months if you are over. Sooner if your cycles are irregular, if you have had a miscarriage, or if either partner has a known reproductive issue.
Genetic counselling explains inherited conditions that could affect a child. It starts with family history across two or three generations, then targets testing at what that history suggests.
Thalassemia carrier rates are high across the Middle East, South Asia and the Mediterranean, which covers a large part of Dubai’s population. Sickle cell and cystic fibrosis carrier screening are also offered.
A blood test shows whether either partner carries the relevant gene. One carrier is not a concern. Two carriers of the same condition changes the picture, and that is exactly the conversation worth having before a pregnancy rather than during one.
Couples marrying in the UAE need a premarital screening certificate, and the panel covers thalassemia, sickle cell, HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.
Plenty of couples treat that certificate as a box to tick. It is genuinely useful information, and it overlaps heavily with the carrier screening done for preconception planning. If you have your premarital results already, bring them. They save repeating tests.
Some vaccines cannot be given once you are pregnant, which makes this a genuinely time-sensitive part of the plan.
Rubella and varicella are live vaccines, so both need at least a month before you start trying. Tdap and influenza are safe closer to conception and can be repeated during pregnancy. Bring your immunisation records if you have them, and we will check titres where the records are missing.
Start folic acid at least three months before you try. If you take one thing from this page, take that.
Here is why the timing matters. The neural tube closes inside the first four weeks, often before a test turns positive. So starting when you find out is starting late.
A standard dose covers most women. Diabetes, a high BMI, certain medications or a previous affected pregnancy all mean a higher one, and your doctor will tell you which applies.
Vitamin D, iodine and iron get added based on your bloods, not as a default. And your doctor will tell you which of the expensive prenatal combinations on the pharmacy shelf you can skip.
PCOS is one of the commonest causes of ovulation-related infertility. It also goes undiagnosed for years, usually until a couple starts trying and nothing happens.
Diagnosis runs on the Rotterdam criteria. Irregular cycles, hormone levels, ultrasound findings, read together. Confirm it before you start and treatment begins early, rather than after eight months of wondering.
Lifestyle change, insulin-sensitising medication and ovulation induction restore regular cycles for many patients. The plan gets built around your hormone profile rather than a standard protocol.
A surprising number of couples are missing the window completely. Timing makes a measurable difference and it is the easiest thing to get wrong.
Cycle regularity gets assessed through your history, hormone testing and sometimes ultrasound follicle tracking. Irregular cycles usually point to something worth investigating before you keep trying.
Predictor kits, basal temperature charting, cervical mucus changes. All three work. Which suits you depends on your cycle and how much daily faff you will actually keep up with, so we suggest one rather than all of them.
Habits matter more in the months before conception than most people realise, and both partners are involved.
One more thing, and it surprises nearly every couple we tell. Sperm takes about three months to develop. So his habits three months out matter on exactly the same timeline as hers.
Timing a pregnancy involves more than picking a month. Birth spacing, a previous caesarean, existing health conditions and what happens when you stop contraception all come into it, and our family planning service covers the wider picture.
Ask about coming off contraception too. Cycles usually return inside a month or two. Some methods take longer. Knowing which is which stops the first few months feeling like something has gone wrong.
Fertility assessment, genetic counselling and health screening in one programme, at our Downtown Dubai clinic. You leave the first visit with a written plan, a test schedule and dates that make sense.
Book your preconception care consultation and start from a clear picture instead of a search history.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a wonderful experience at Trusta Medical Center. From the moment I arrived, the reception team was welcoming, professional, and very well organized. The entire clinic has a clean, elegant, and comfortable atmosphere, which immediately gives you a sense of confidence and trust. I was particularly impressed by their Aesthetic Medicine Department. The team takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns and expectations, and everything is explained clearly before making any decision. Their approach feels professional and patient-centered rather than commercial. The clinic also seems very selective in choosing its doctors. The medical team is experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on achieving natural and appropriate results while maintaining high standards of safety. Another positive point was the transparency regarding prices and treatment options. Everything was explained clearly, with no unnecessary pressure to undergo additional procedures. Overall, Trusta Medical Center is an excellent polyclinic that combines professional medical care, hospitality, cleanliness, fair pricing, and highly qualified doctors under one roof. I would confidently recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable medical center in Dubai, especially for aesthetic medicine. A truly five-star experience.
